“We must support, engage and listen to the hard-working teachers who are the backbone of our education system.”
“Together, we are going to finally invest in our schools the way our children deserve and ensure our amazing public school teachers have the resources they need to provide every child with a great education.”
For nearly two decades, Jared Polis has been a fierce advocate for Colorado’s teachers, students, and workers.
When he graduated from college, Jared founded multiple startups including Techstars, a mentorship program for young innovators from all backgrounds. In 2000, he left the tech sector to fight for high-quality public education in his state. After serving on the Colorado State Board of Education for six years, Jared was elected to the U.S. Congress in 2008.
While serving in Congress, Jared introduced the “Giving Workers a Fair Shot Act” to protect public-sector unions, collective bargaining, and leave time for workers across the country. He also introduced the “Student Non-Discrimination Act” to protect LGBTQ students from discrimination.
Jared is the first openly gay parent in Congress. He and his partner have two young children.
