“As a product of Michigan's public schools and an even prouder public-school parent, I know that we owe it to all Michigan kids to fix our public education system so every student is prepared for success and can build a life for themselves right here in Michigan.”
“Michiganders work hard, we have grit, but there's a lot of families in Michigan who haven't seen a raise in 10 years. Or they're working a couple of jobs that are minimum wage and they still can't get by. We gotta make sure that every one of us has a real path to a high wage job.”
Gretchen Whitmer is a lifelong Michigander and product of Michigan public schools. Throughout her tenure in both houses of the Michigan State Legislature and as a state prosecutor, she has always had the back of working families.
Gretchen has a track record of working across party lines to obtain meaningful change for Michiganders. However, throughout her tenure, she has shown a willingness to stand up to both Democrat and Republican governors who try to divert funding from K-12 schools.
In order to put Michigan back on track, Gretchen understands that the way forward is through investment in our children and working families.
