Urge senators to support and push for action on the Equality Act

The Senate still has not acted on the Equality Act (S. 393) passed by the House in February. The bill would amend federal laws to include sexual orientation and gender identity, giving LGBTQ Americans explicit protection from discrimination in key areas of life: employment, housing, credit, education, public spaces and services, federally funded programs, and jury service.

The current patchwork of laws—most states lack non-discrimination policies that include sexual orientation and gender identity—leaves many students and educators vulnerable to discrimination and sends the message LGBTQ Americans are second-class citizens. “[N]ondiscrimination policies must be enforceable by the law; we cannot leave it to the whims and feelings of individuals who may have biases and phobias they are unaware of,” NEA member Brian Kerekas, a teacher in Florida, wrote in a guest column.

Nearly 70 percent of LGBTQ students endure name-calling or threats based on sexual orientation, the National School Climate Survey found, and 40 percent have seriously considered suicide, according to the 2020 National Survey on LGBTQ Youth Mental Health. The Equality Act would help cultivate nurturing school environments for LGBTQ students while safeguarding the LGBTQ educators who support and encourage them. As NEA member Stephanie Rowe, a teacher in Wisconsin, said in a letter to the editor, “[Advocating for students] becomes more difficult if I fear being fired simply because of who I love.”

  1. First sister Europeans are not white if you did your homework you’d know they are north African black, Indian from the country India and they are Asian. White people never ever existed. Neanderthals came from Africa, migrated to Asia and then to Europe. Look it up. Also humans are a evolved form of chimpanzee. Studies done in southern Africa in 2021 prove this as scientific fact.

  2. The organic act of Washington dc the act of 1871 changed everything. It took the governmental power out of the hands of the people an placed them in the hands of the politicians, big banks, fortune 500 companies and the federal reserve. Then in the days that followed Lincoln freed the slaves but the Republicans made both blacks and whites slaves. To work as slave laborers. Prior to that the government when a citizen turned 18 was given free land a 50 pound bag of seeds to plant, and free farm animals. The idea behind this agreed both thomas Jefferson and George washington to prevent homelessness and hunger. Even if you didn’t have a penny to your name and was dirt poor you weren’t hungry or homeless. Think back to 1942 when German Americans were interrogated and Japanese Americans were picked up in the dead of night without the right to oppose, a free and fair trial, to prove their innocent an no rights were given yet all were taken. Go home tonight when you do turn on your phone type in 1942 Japanese concentration camps and your see just how many of us truly have right. One can not have rights if they’re taken from us. They’re just temporary privileges and that’s all we’ve ever had folks temporary privileges. Andrew Jackson was our last great president. He tried mercifully to stop corrupt politicians from turning us from a federalist nation to a representative democracy. Now we are a body corporate. Our headquarters is D.C. while the branches of the corporation is the states.

This about it this way folks: God said and I quote, “Love one another as I have loved you.”
Do not judge one another, only the bringer and destroyer of life may judge all humans; GOD. Who are you to judge your neighbor you hypocrite.
GOD MADE THE 2ND SECOND COMMANDMENT AN IT SAID DO NOT JUDGE THY NEIGHBOR, IT DID NOT SAY SHOW THEM HATRED, JUDGEMENT, DISCRIMINATION, BULLYING, IT DID NOT SAY SHOW THEM RACISM, SEXISM, ZENAPHOBIA, HOMOPHOBIA, GENDER BINARIED AND TRANSPHOBIA, DISABILITY DISCRIMINATION, IT NEVER EVER ONCE SAID YOU MAKE PICK AN CHOOSE WHICH NEIGHBOR TO LOVE AN WHICH NEIGHBOR TO HATE. ALL IT EVER AN I MEAN ALL IT EVER SAID WAS TO WHAT? ANSWER IS ****”LOVE THY NEIGHBOR.”

  3. ERA passed Congress 50 years ago. The last 3 States needed to ratify the amendment have ratified it. The Senate must remove the artificial deadline. The US Archivist must certify the ratification from the states and establish ERA as law. It is overdue. Women do NOT have FULL citizenship RIGHTS in United States and it’s 2021! Contact attorney general Merrick Garland. Contact your senators. Contact the US Archivist. Get this done!

  4. As a constituent, I urge you to NOT support Equality Act to give LGBTQ Americans explicit protection from discrimination.

This is an outrage when the White European women who built this country HAVE NEVER BEEN GIVEN THESE PROTECTIONS.

Please stop insulting the FOUNDING STOCK.

  5. It is in the cause of justice that the Equality Act be passed in the Senate so as to strengthen and preserve the moral and ethical integrity of our society by allowing my fellow gay people and everyone else to live authentic lives without fear of discrimination on the basis of our sexual orientation. My God is a good God and therefore, my God loves ALL. My God never discriminates against me nor anyone else on the basis of my lesbian sexual orientation or any other sexual orientation.

  6. LIES AND HATE IS THE ONLY THING THE TALIBAN TAITORS(R) HAVE LEFT TO RUN ON ! NO NEW IDEAS JUST HATE AND DISCONTENT!

  7. “We hold these truths to be self evident. All men are created equal”.
Excerpt from Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

  8. It is 2021 nearly 2022 – WHY ARE WE STILL TALKING ABOUT THIS????? This should have been a done deal! All men and women are created equal. If you cut us we bleed. This needs to be taken care of soon and the GOP has to get on board.
