Talk about a bitter pill to swallow: According to most independent health care experts, Sen. John McCain’s health care fix amounts to a new tax on working families; leaves 20 million Americans out of employer-sponsored coverage; and increases out-of-pocket costs across the board. Want to see for yourself? Head to www.mccainhealthcaretax.com — a new site unveiled today in conjunction with Education Votes where you can check out the facts about the candidate's plan and lobby him to change his position.
"Sen. McCain’s plan is further evidence that he still doesn’t understand the needs of working Americans,” says NEA President Dennis Van Roekel. “In the midst of the worst economic crisis America has seen since the Great Depression, he fails to grasp the urgency with which we need to provide more health care coverage for the 45 million Americans who don’t have health insurance. To top it all off, his plan would pull the rug out from under employers that try to do right by their employees by paying some or all of their health care premiums."
The health care tax plan proposed by McCain comes as more and more Americans—including our 3.2 million members who are on the front lines along with students, parents and school districts—increasingly are facing the shortcomings of our strained health care system and economy. School districts are reporting more homeless students and more students who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.

I'm not happy that about 25% of the teachers at the elementary school I work at are supporting McCain
(even though our association has informed members
about McCain's plan to tax health insurance benefits, and other negative aspects of the candidate). A teacher at another school told me half the teachers at her school are supporting McCain, also. I'm a technology ESP, and every ESP I know, is supporting Obama. Perhaps this is because we are hurting so much more financially.
Please keep spreading the word how important it is for educational employees to support Barack Obama.
If they hear the facts enough times, maybe, at least some of the teachers and other staff supporting McCain will wake up!
Thank you,
Kathy
Is this appropiate for a school organization ?
I find this appalling that you try to push your agenda on our students and their teachers !!!!
We all pay taxes so children can go to school and have an education, no wonder they all come out as dummies. Maybe if you would spendhalf the time on their education,as you do on pushing your opinions on them, they would be better off, and quesswhat ? They could actually think for themselves. You might even have a site that one could back and correct something, every time one tries, it erases what you wrote, not just the one letter. Why don't you put out the facts, really, just the facts, good and bad about each canidate, and let the people decide for themselves, heaven for bid !!! You must really be worried about your guy that you feel you must bury the truth about him !! I feel sorry that this is the only way you feel you can win, I hope a crooked race makes you feel truly happy inside. I will pray for all of you, you are going to need it !!!
I support John McCain, as he is the PRO-LIFE candidate.
What good is any health care plan Obama comes up with if he does not believe in the right for all people to live? How are you using my membership money to fund NEA's endorsement of the anti-life candidate Obama?
In response to audrey wagner ..... thank goodness I'm not the only one in this country that understands the importance of education over bias opinion. I had a friend point me to thie website today and when the page came up the first thing I noticed was it's brasin slant to the LEFT. What does John McCains health care plan have to do with educating our children? Moreover, are you really surprised that the Democrats, and their liberal lobyists (NEA), want to hide the hypocracy about their own candidate ? This just helps prove my thought that education starts at home ... first. As long as my children understand that they're being taught a biased point of view they can intelligently make decisions best suited for them.
