We want to hear from state education Association officials about what they saw on the ground during the election, the role members played, GOTV efforts and anything that you want to
share about the campaign. Tell us how you helped elect friends of public education!

I am in the Seattle area. Voting is very heavy today. People are reporting long waits, but they are staying. Only two counties in WA vote on site, the rest is mail ballot. We had a report this morning --- the WEA members made 114,223 persuasion phone calls on behalf of Gov. Gregoire during October. This is the biggest political effort WEA has ever done. Keep your fingers crossed. We called 6300 WEA members in a get out the vote effort. Gregoire won by 133 votes in 2004. We are hoping to know the results before the end of the week. (King county will be able to count only 40% of the vote this evening - Seattle is in King county). Obama will win here by a big margin, and we are hoping he will carry the governor to victory.
This is so exciting! Here in Fargo, ND, voter turnout is at record highs, even the early voting turnout reached record numbers. NDEA made over 4000 calls to member on the ballot measures. We’ve very optimistic.

MSTA members are pushing hard to elect Frank Kratovil to Congress in Maryland's 1st district. A dozen staff signed up for vacation today--their R&R consists of working the polls, phones, and do door-to-door GOTV canvassing! Members in Anne Arundel, Baltimore, and our Eastern Shore Counties did the same.
In Western Maryland there's an intensive effort to elect Jennifer Dougherty. Jennifer is trying to knock off 8-term incumbent Roscoe Bartlett.
Tom Israel reports that almost 600 members of the Montgomery County Education Association are working the polls, passing out Apple Ballots. That's where MSTA President Clara Floyd spent her day. Our Montgomery County Apple Ballots list three endorsed school board candidates and our opposition to Question B, a measure limiting county tax increases.
Tonight some MSTA staff will be watching returns in Ohio, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania, where they've been campaigning for Obama.
Finally, we'll be watching for results on Question 2, a slots referendum which will pour $660 million a year into a dedicated education trust fund. While we are happy to help our neighbors, we'd really like to bring back the gaming money that Marylanders are currently giving to West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Delaware!
Thanks to all the NEA staff, family members and friends who live and vote in Maryland for supporting our recommendations.
Greetings from the Great "BLUE" State of Nevada--Reno!
Betty Jeung and I have been out walking and knocking on doors today to encourage the fence straddlers to go VOTE OBAMA! Things are looking very good here! We are so excited and can hardly wait to see the results tonight. Wish you were all here to join us at the Grand Sierra Hotel and Casino for the Democratic & Obama Watch Party! Everything looks and feels right!!!
We've got our last site visit tomorrow to celebrate 100% ESP membership in the local in Douglas County. NSEA President Lynn Warne will be with as we serve ice cream sundaes! Later in the day we will celebrate the work of the volunteers at the Washoe EA and Washoe ESP Rep Meetings with cake, balloons & festivities. It is an exciting time in Nevada!
