  1. You know Gloria that Obama and his cronies ( of which you are one) rammed his worthless OBAMACARE bill down our throats. This bill has done more to wreck our healthcare and raise our premiums than any other legislation I have ever seen. Obama and Hilary did more to advance the cause of his religious cronies ( radical Islamic terrorists) and hopefully a real leader like Mr Trump can decimate those killers. Let us not talk about our standing around the world . Obama did nothing about north Korea, Iran, ( oh that’s right he gave them billions of our dollars and then said get to work on that nuclear bomb ) Libya ( oh that’s right Hilary had kadafy killed ) Check on Libya lately. Do you remember how Obama was going to be the great post racial president Yahoo right. I apologize for jumping all over an elder, but I guess as one of the deplorables you rail against I’m tired of ignorant people spewing the liberal rants without knowing what you’re talking about. One final note, the constitution of these United States of America ( a document you liberals should take a bit of time to read) says nothing about church and state. The constitution says the government shall make no law establishing a state religion including Islam.

  2. What annoys me the most about this tax bill is that it’s designed to overwhelmingly help the people who need it the least. Trump supposedly ran on a populist platform of middle class relief. Instead, everything he and the GOP have done so far with healthcare and taxes is designed to hurt those very people Trump promised to help. You’ve been duped Trump supporters!

  3. Yes, I think this tax bill is a disaster. The republicans want to take away the deduction for state and local taxes. As an education voter, I realize that the state and local taxes should be encouraged because almost all of these taxes go to support and improve schools. As a retired teacher, I realize the importance of Medicare, Social Security, and Medicaid. There is a danger that this tax bill may cause huge deficits, which may be repaid from Social Security.
Job loss is caused by mechanization, so education is needed to retrain people for new careers. I think that this tax bill threatens our civilization.

  4. Hans, your give up, they are going to win by ‘ramming’ through the bill is as wrong as the bully republicans. If we just lie down, we might as well not fight back for anything. You can’t predict a republican blood bath if you agree lie down and let them run over us. We have continued to fight against killing the Affordable Care Act, DACA, etc. We must continue Resist Trump Tuesday actions. However, I would fervently hope these actions take place at earlier times, or choose a weekend date some times. As a retired person, the later the event, the harder it is for me to go to and from it. It is more difficult to see black ice, etc. Fight, fight, fight!

  5. When did we become Republicans or Democrats first? Remember when we were Americans first and after 9-11 how we all came together to show the world that we were one nation? And the world (largely) rallied around us? I’d like to see our legislators remember that they are Americans first and that they work for the good of our people, all of us, not just one faction or another.

  6. Taxation without representation! Isn’t this the reason you wanted your independence from King George? Then why are you doing this to Middle class, working class and the poor.

Reform taxes, but do it the right way. My husband and I are taxed at 28% of our income. While corporations pay 3%, sometimes less, and receive corporate welfare.

  7. Is it because Republicans in the house and the senate don’t have to live on the same pay as the people down in the trenches and those on retirement pay that they play Russian Roulette with working people’s lives and livelihood? If they had to live off of our salaries, retirement benefits and disability pensions I know it would be another story. They would be the ones protesting this legislation, but that it is some person they don’t have to deal with on a daily basis, they feel if is just to treat human beings with contempt. Stop playing with people’s livelihoods and treat us with respect. We have earned it!

  8. If the income tax deduction doubles for beginning teachers they will be able to increase their pay back rate for education loans. Get out of debt sooner, good for their personal economic picture. They can earn more education, obtain a spouse, build a house or what ever. If they invest they can start a retirement program. Older teachers can do many things too. More tax cuts will follow as Democrats see there value for the nation. More jobs, more production, better wages. Making America Great again will take time it took many years to bring it to the current depressed level. Time will help as progress is made.

  9. AT CLOSE TO AGE 85 i HAVE SEEN MANY THINGS. dURING FORMER pRESIDENT oBAMA’S TERMS WE

  10. Education is an investment in the future. Taking money from it for tax breaks will critically affect many people in a negative way. Corporate greed over human rights is corruption. Anybody that supports this bill is a bought politician and should be removed from office. We the people need to stand up and demand tax equality and not allow the wealthy to control our money for their own benefit.

  11. If these unconscionable GOPers pass this insanity there will be hell to pay. Apparently they have run the numbers and feel comfortable screwing over we the people in order to keep hauling in that Super Pac money. They are playing with the lives of the less fortunate for the sole purpose of staying in power. Greed over empathy at all costs should be their motto. Most of we the people are smart enough to see through the lies and BS leaving only loyal Republican idiots and racist nationalists as their base.

    1. Michael – Sadly, I do see the GOP ramming through some form of this tax reform bill. As this point members of Congress would rather be seen as guilty of passing a bad bill than no bill at all. They’re desperate for some legislative win to please their donors. Of course they’ll try to put the best face on their vote to deflect their most affected constituents, but I agree there’s going to be hell to pay. I predict a republican blood bath in the next midterm elections.

    2. Mike, apparently you’re not that smart. The less fortunate among us pay no income taxes anyway. When was the last time you got a job from a poor person. It’s easy to sit on your ass and tell people who have businesses that pay extreme amounts of money to a government that would spend every dime of every person in this country if we let them, that we’re greedy. Go start a business of your own once and you’ll see what I mean. As Americans just remember, it’s our money not there’s!!!!!!! I prefer to give my money where I can see the good it does.

  12. I need a little help with #3. I am missing the connection between losing the personal State and local deduction and losing funds for education. Specifically, how?

    1. Local property taxes are how public schools are funded in most places. State income taxes partially fund public schools.

  13. Please vote against the Tax Reform Bill. It harms my middle class students who already have a hard time paying for college and who will never be able to progress past high school. It hurts PhD students who are the backbone of research in science and other fields – those who ultimately make progress in industry-related fields, health and arts and culture.

This is an anti-education bill. Please vote against it.

  14. We can’t afford to cut education dollars and make classroom sizes larger. There are too many children entering school with academic, emotional, behavioral and mental health issues. Maybe it is time for legislators to spend a day in a kindergarten classroom to see all that teachers are required to do besides “teach” and “test.”

  15. you should be ashamed of yourselves for even thinking about passing this tax bill that costs everyday people what amounts to nothing to you. but alas, you are the ones that have to look in the mirror.

  16. These so called politicians are really the scum of the earth. How they can have anyone agreeing with their bone chilling ideas is simply beyond belief. Where is the America that should be? Blotted out by greed.
