If you want a taste of the “ideal” Republican education situation has to hold, look at Douglas County in Colorado. The Republicans hired their own campaign finance professional (CHRIS HOLBERT) to get enough money to place a majority of Republicans on the DC School Board. The Republican School Board tried (it’s in the courts now and DC taxpayers are paying for the lawsuit!) to take public school dollars to pay for private schools (most in our area are more than 10,000.00/year for starters–so the public dollars are not going to help some poor, minority child). Now they determined who is least worthy of pay (5th grade teachers); these teachers’ salaries (regardless of years teaching or education) are capped at 50,000.00! The most ANY teacher can make (SPED teachers would be in the highest paying category) is 60,000/year. They are also putting “no collective bargaining” on the ballot this fall. Class sizes are 40+ at the high school and 30+ at elementary.

Do you think that Romney and Ryan care ? They don’t!! They see education in this country as another opportunity for someone to make money, and that someone will not be teachers.

Oh, by the way, I have taught middle school for 29 years, so I consider my “seasoned.”

I am a middle school teacher who has no more pay but triple the paperwork thanks to Secretary Holder and President Obama. I want them both GONE!! All we are are statistics keepers because that is all they know. I want to educate my students. DO NOT SLAM ROMNEY AND RYAN until you talk to seasoned TEACHERS!
