The Education Votes team caught up with Democratic Senator Ben Cardin of Maryland during this year’s Netroots Nation. Senator Cardin took the time to answer questions about the importance of collective bargaining to educators and public schools and even tells the story of first meeting his wife in kindergarten. A product of the Baltimore County Public School system, Senator Cardin credits one of his high school homeroom teachers with instilling in him a powerful sense of civic responsibility and a desire to give back to his community through public service. Without the influence of educators, he may never have achieved those goals. Senator Cardin received the great public education that every student in this country deserves and is now a powerful voice and proud supporter of educators and students in the United States Senate.
